Even if you happen to believe global warming is a Chinese hoax, it’s hard not to notice that something is up. Weather-wise: this was one of the warmest winters EVER … and nearly every year for the past decade it seems, water rationing has been a feature of life for some poor souls on some part of the island. Soon that spot could be Kaohsiung … as 2017 plans to start water rationing are scheduled for March 20th.

Kaohsiung expected to begin water rationing on March 20, 2017

” Despite getting rainfall over the past few days, phase-one water rationing will still have to be carried out in Kaohsiung, the largest city in southern Taiwan, on March 20 as scheduled, a senior Water Resources Agency (WRA) official said Monday.”

“Despite the recent cold spells and heavy rain, the winter season in Taiwan that was supposed to span from December 2016 to January 2017 has been barely existent.”


Taiwan rolls out first phase of water rationing in 2017 

“Areas subjected to water rationing include Banqiao and Xinzhuang districts in New Taipei City, Linkou, Taoyuan City and Hsinchu County, which all rely on the Shihmen Dam for water supply.”
