‘A-gong-dian’ means ‘Grandpappy’s shop.’ Completed in 1954, it was the biggest such project since the Japanese era.
The reservoir sits on the upper part of Agongdian River in Kaohsiung City. Stretching across some 2000 meters, it’s reportedly the longest reservoir in Asia!~

And now this old water hole is moving into the 21st century, with a new solar farm that opened this week. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu said the farm will produce 200MW of power by 2018. The mayor also promised more sun farms across the city, with a goal of generating over 1500MW within two years.
Hopefully, this will help reduce the toxicity of Kaohisung’s air … at least a little.
