Stats released by the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) Saturday, claim the number of foreign nationals who were added to the ‘deportation list’ during the first six months of 2016, increased by nearly 20% from a year ago.

Over 60% of these are foreign workers who overstayed their visas or who had run away from their official place of employment to seek better jobs.

Some 16,791 foreign nationals have been arrested for breaking the law and then transferred to the National Immigration Agency (NIA) for repatriation during the period of January 1st to June 30, 2016, reports said.

People from Vietnam, Indonesia and China are the three largest groups of such individuals, accounting for roughly 43%, 39% and 7% of the total, respectively.
